Dry, Brittle Hair

Blow-drying already dry, dehydrated hair can add insult to injury, causing more damage. Aveda’s new Speed of Light

Blow Dry Accelerator, €25.50, is a primer spray that cuts blow-dry time in half and leaves hair smooth, soft and static free: “We use lactic acid from sugarbeets to lower the pH of hair, which also flattens the hair cuticle. Hair with a higher pH tends to swell and is more prone to frizz and tangling. By helping to seal the cuticle, it separates strands, increasing the airflow around them which results in decreased blow-dry time.” It also protects hair from thermal damage, delivering coconutderived conditioner and corn-derived hydration, preventing breakage when brushing. If your new year’s resolution is to be more environmentally aware, you’ll be glad to know that the formula is vegan, silicone-free and 90% naturally derived.

Sayonara split ends

GHD UK ambassador Zoe Irwin explains how it works. “The underneath section of hair is usually the part that gets the most abuse. It gets rubbed by your top, coat and scarf and also when you sleep. It’s this part of your hair that will make your overall hair look and feel healthier if it’s looked after. Use Advanced Split End Therapy, €24, every five washes to bind broken fibres together to strengthen fragile and damaged hair. Simply comb through shampooed hair, blow dry and then pass your styler over hair to seal in the product using heat.”
