Kids Fantastic Flix 2019

Did you know that part of the Virgin Media Dublin Internatio­nal Film Festival ( February 20- March 3) is just for kids?

Now in its fourth year, the Fantastic Flix strand has an exciting programme of 10 lms that celebrate the magic diversity of lm. There’s Belgian lm Rosie & Moussa; Kenyan lm Ra ki; and German lm This Crazy Heart. The full Virgin Media Dublin Internatio­nal Film Festival programme is launched on Wednesday, January 23. The writer and director of the critically acclaimed comedy drama Eighth Grade, Bo Burnham, visits the festival on February 27. There’s also a 40th anniversar­y celebratio­n of the iconic The Muppet Movie, with a screening in ve cinemas across the city on February 24.

Old-school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure The Kid Who Would be King, written and directed by Joe Cornish ( Attack the Block, Ant-Man, The Adventures of Tintin), who will attend for a special Q&A and workshop. Another magical event will be a family screening of the great Charlie Chaplin classic The Kid (February 23), accompanie­d by a live musical score from pianist Maud Nelissen.

Parents and kids alike are sure to enjoy Mia And The White Lion (February 23), about a rebellious young girl from London who moves to Africa with her parents where she befriends a lion cub. In Danish lm Land Of Glass (February 26) 13-year-old Jas discovers elves on the run from sinister forces at the bottom of his garden.
