GSK IMPACT Awards
On Thursday, January 17, ten healthcare charities were rewarded for their work in their local communities at the GSK IMPACT Awards 2018. The awards recognise unsung healthcare heroes who are making real difference to health and well-being in their local area. Five winners each got €10,000 in funding while five runner-up charities got €2,000 each.
The five winning charities are:
AsIAm (Autism Spectrum Information Advice and Meeting Point) was founded in 2014 by Adam Harris, a young man with Asperger’s syndrome. Today, Adam is CEO of the charity, which provides a ‘one stop shop’ service. asiam.ie
HIV Ireland – a registered charity operating at local, national and European level. At a time when new cases of HIV in Ireland are increasing again (492 in 2017), the charity’s work towards reducing the incidence of HIV in Ireland remains essential. hivireland.ie
Ruhama – a Dublin-based organisation supporting women affected by prostitution and sex trafficking that works on a national level in Ireland. ruhama.ie Walkinstown Greenhills Resource Centre (WGRC) provides a range of services to people with alcohol/ substance misuse problems, as well as people indirectly affected by substance misuse and those with broader mental health difficulties. wgrc.ie Vision Sports Ireland – the only organisation in Ireland dedicated to promoting sport and recreation for vision impaired people. visionsports.ie
