Audrey Butler, Sarah Toomey and Tara Hynes describe the weight-loss journeys as well as the dramatic improvement in health they have achieved under the guidance of Mullingar wellness coach, Patricia Maher

Tara says: “I had been in and out of WW a few times over the years, between having babies and all the usual. Then one day I nally saw myself how I was; I was out with friends and they were taking a group photo and I felt as big as a house, and that was it, I decided to go back to my workshop with my Wellness Coach, Patricia.

I had been on a slippery slope; I was zombie eating, just pulling things out of the freezer and having whatever was convenient without thinking about it. I stopped with all the chips and goujons and started to cook from scratch again, like the way my mother used to cook; good, wholesome, proper meals. The key was in thinking more and planning ahead. I got rid of all the rubbish and started buying fresh food. The whole family has bene tted: my husband has lost weight too, and I have two healthy kids.

We got a dog, which is a good reason to get out more, and also a handy way to get rid of the scraps that I used to nish off myself! When the kids go to football, I use the track there to take a walk, I put the headphones on and set myself a target of getting 5k done in the hour, but sometimes I get up to 7k. I’ve noticed that since I’ve started walking during the training sessions, some of the other mothers have started doing it too.

To be able to put on nice clothes and not feel like I’m wearing a tent feels great. I always loved fashion and shopping, but I had got to the point where I dreaded nding something new. Now I can buy a dress from Penneys and know it will look well. I used to hide myself in big clothes and avoid photos, now I’m more outgoing and more than happy to get into photographs! I love just being able to go where I want and do what I want without feeling selfconscious. It’s the simple things, like wearing a swimsuit on holidays, and just that lovely feeling of being well and healthy.

I love going to my Wellness Worksop; my coach, Patricia, is like a breath of fresh air, everyone that walks in there comes out feeling inspired. Going back there was one of the best things I’ve every done, I just wish I’d done it sooner. It’s been brilliant for me, and for my family too, I feel more con dent and happier in my own skin.”
