Harriet tries to play matchmaker and convinces Dawn to go on a date with Ryan. It’s not quite the romantic evening they had planned, however, as one of Dawn’s ex-punters, Leon, turns up and harasses her. Ryan is quick to leap to her defence, and Dawn rewards him with a kiss. ings quickly turn south when Ryan misinterpr­ets the embrace and o ers a horri ed Dawn money for sex. Worse still, Leon hasn’t forgotten the encounter. He follows Dawn home and confronts her at her house. She’s clearly had enough and stands up to Leon, and an impressed Harriet watches on as Dawn kicks him out. In an e ort to salvage what’s le of a terrible day, Dawn and Harriet turn up to e Woolpack to drown their sorrows. Unbeknown to them, Ryan is already there, and he’s catching up with an old friend, Gail, who tries to kiss him. Elsewhere, Pete and Rhona have planned a comfy duvet day together, but Rhona’s con icted when Vanessa asks her to cover for her at the farm. e decision is made easier for her when Pete, nursing a hangover, rushes o to work. Pete nally arrives at the farm, where Matty is busy moaning about Cain’s latest antics. Caught up in his complainin­g, Matty forgets to mention to Pete that the tractor is faulty. Rhona, meanwhile, has arrived to cover for Vanessa and heads to the barn to look a er the cows, which are nowhere to be seen. She phones Pete and, distracted, he realises to his horror that the brakes aren’t working. e tractor then ploughs right into the barn and hits Vanessa, who is le bleeding and unconsciou­s.
