As Junior’s treatment continues, Orla nds it di cult to cope. She’s not happy with Wayne, who she thinks has been over-con ding in Pete. Pete tries to make it up to Orla by looking a er Junior for the day, but his good intentions may have made things worse when the youngster is too tired to play football. Later, Pete buys Junior a toy dog when Orla and Tommy explain that he can’t have a real puppy. However, this only upsets Junior more when he thinks that the dog is dead. Pete tries again to soothe a despairing Orla, and encourages her to keep her spirits up. Tommy is quick to encourage Orla as well, but a suspicious Pete warns Wayne that Tommy is getting too close. Orla isn’t happy when she hears about Pete’s advice, and it only serves to sour her mood. Elsewhere, there is some bad blood between Mairead and Renee. A er a phone call to the school from Renee about Phoebe bullying Ellie, Mairead is incensed. Mairead goes to Ellie and when Renee discovers that Mairead confronted the child, she’s horri ed. It all clicks for Mairead and she realises that Ellie has been playing her for a fool, and she advises Phoebe to stay away from Ellie. It’s not long before Ellie realises that Phoebe is blanking her, leaving her upset. Mairead doesn’t help matters when she warns Renee about Ellie’s manipulati­on. Bob has been watching from the sidelines and suggests that both Renee and Mairead lead by example and put their feud to rest.
