Must-watch TV: Car SOS (National Geographic) Even those with little or no interest in cars will find plenty to enjoy in the antics of Tim and Buzz as they restore the beloved vehicles of deserving owners to their former glory. The late Roger Moore was a fan, even popping up in the show where the boys restored a Volvo P1800, the car famously driven by Simon Templar in The Saint.

Binge-worthy stream: After Life (Netflix)

A new series from Ricky Gervais is always a cause for celebration. In this six-part comedy, Ricky plays a newspaper writer struggling to come to terms with his wife’s death and adopting a gruff new persona in order to keep concerned friends at arm’s length. The supporting cast includes Penelope Wilton, Ashley Jensen, Roisín Conaty and Diane Morgan. Don’t miss our interview with the man himself next week.

Top Podcast: The Blind Boy Podcast The Bard of Limerick has fans all over the world (he recently gave a shout-out to his 250 listeners in Uruguay) who tune in weekly as he casts a cold, acerbic and very funny eye on whatever subject takes his fancy. The topics covered range from procrastination to bereavement, but any subject can be interrupted by a passing tomcat or the realisation that the noise a water bottle makes resembles a grieving mouse.

Radio Waves: Afternoon Drive with Pat Courtenay (Radio Nova) The legendary DJ is the perfect host for your drive home. He’s quick-witted, has an instant grasp of traffic issues (notably around the Mad Cow), and always seems to be able to get his hands on those soldout concert tickets. Not to mention the fact that he understands the value of a Gary Moore guitar solo. Over and under.
