Soaps Julie Lordan chats to Emmerdale’s Gaynor Faye about her gripping storyline

The actor, Joe McGann, has been cast as Tony Hutchinson’s estranged father, in Hollyoaks and is expected to make his first appearance later this year.

While several characters from Coronation Street are due to exit this year – Sinead Tinker, Michelle Connor, Kate Connor, Bethany Platt – and there could be more – one character who is set for the long haul is Gemma Collins. Gemma and her boyfriend, Chesney, are expecting quads and this storyline is just beginning as Gemma will have her rst scan this week. For those who nd her character particularly annoying, and apparently there are many, it doesn’t look like Gemma is going anywhere soon.

And nally, viewers nd out who was responsible for the roof collapse at Underworld, which killed Rana and pushed Carla into a fragile mental state. The list of suspects is now Gary Windass, Nick Tilsley and Robert Preston. With news that Tristan Gemmel, who plays Robert, is leaving, this would be a tting end. But anything is possible in the world of soap.

And Gaynor Faye (see interview) has made the surprise announcement that she is quitting her role of Megan Macey in Emmerdale. She told Ok magazine “I’ve been on the show for over six years and have naturally reached a point where I’d like to do some other stu .” Soap fans will remember Gaynor’s role as Judy Mallett in Coronation Street where she met a sad end, cutting o any possibility of a return to the role. There are no hints from the Emmerdale producers about how Megan will exit but she will be missed.
