Congrats to Laura Donnelly (who leads the cast) and Ann Skelly who are among the stars of Joss Whedon’s eagerly-anticipated new TV drama, The Nevers. The sci-fi yarn follows the fortunes of a group of Victorian women known as ‘The Touched’, who all possess unusual abilities. In addition to the two Irish actors, the first-rate ensemble includes Olivia Williams, James Norton, Eleanor Tomlinson and Nick Frost. The Nevers is set for release next year.

Having missed out on the Best Picture Oscar for Roma last year, Netflix will be putting their Oscar faith and their marketing might in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, the most high-profile film produced thus far by the global streaming service. The eagerly awaited mob drama, starring De Niro, Pacino, Pesci and Keitel, is the true story of eponymous crime boss, Frank Sheeran (De Niro), who was implicated in the murder of union head, Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino), in the 1970s. The Irishman will receive its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 27, before going online in the autumn.

Fresh from his high-profile stint on Love Island, Curtis Pritchard (aka Maura’s bloke) will be getting back into his dancing shoes as he joins his brother AJ on BBC’s upcoming RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. The Pritchard brothers, who will be appearing on screen together for the first time, will be charged with helping the queens with their choreography in the show’s dance-based challenges.
