Get ready for Fantastic Flix 2020!

The Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival ( VDIFF) comes to the children’s centre at the Ark in Dublin’s Temple Bar from February 18 to 22, just in time for the mid- term. the VDIFF at the Ark programme is aimed at all kids with an interest in movies, aged 8+. Animation Inspiration: Silhouette Animation Workshops

A chance to discover the beautiful silhouette animations of Lotte Reiniger and learn some of the techniques that made her a star of early animation. In this unique animation workshop, Maria Steinmetz will introduce you to Reiniger’s beautiful silhouette animations. She was a contemporary of Walt Disney who was celebrated for bringing hand-crafted, artfully cut paper characters to life on the big screen.

Following a showing of Lotte’s work, Maria will guide you in using simple cutting techniques and stop-motion to design and make your own silhouette creations. Discover how shadow and light can be manipulated with simple paper figures and shapes to make awesome effects on screen, and watch as your ideas are transformed into a unique silhouette animation.
