The Insider Dr Eva Orsmond’s Great Escape, plus Hugh Laurie in space!

-

Last year, the weight-loss guru, Dr Eva Orsmond, showed us How to Live Better For Longer. is year, the former Operation Transformation mentor is back with a new series in which she and her husband, Wyatt, have sold their luxurious Wicklow home and opened a weight-loss / detox hotel in the Algarve, starting from scratch. e couple risk everything – including their life savings and even their marriage – to ful l their life-long ambition of creating a weight-loss destination in the sun.

A er the couple’s much reported split, Eva considers this a fresh start and has high hopes that the new venture will rebuild their relationship and create a new life together. In reality, given that neither has any experience in the hospitality industry and neither speaks a word of Portuguese, are they in way over their heads?

In an interview with the RTÉ Guide last year, Eva spoke about the complications setting up the Solar Alvura in an abandoned property she discovered while visiting her mother in Portugal. “It’s going much slower than what we expected,” she explained, “because it’s an old building, it’s much more di cult to renovate. Also, funding has been an issue. We have no previous experience in the hospitality industry so there are a lot of risks involved. My husband is pretty much living there permanently at the moment. It’s a huge risk nancially and emotionally. At the same time, it has given us a totally new dimension to our lives.”

In this three-part series, cameras follow the highs and the lows, the fears, the stress, the rows, the uncertainty and the excitement. It’s a truly y-on-the-wall, painfully honest account of the pressures of a life-changing business venture, both professionally and personally. See how they both got on with their grand design when Dr Eva’s Great Escape begins this Sunday.
