Following his massive success with Veep, Armando Iannucci is back with a new comedy, this time set 40 years into the future when space tourism has become a thing. Hugh Laurie stars as the captain of luxury space cruise liner Avenue 5, a celestial vessel that offers clientele gourmet buffets, a spa, yoga classes and an observation deck to watch the planets and stars as they cruise past. As the series begins, Avenue 5’s eight-week journey around Saturn is underway and everything is running smoothly. But when the ship suddenly encounters technical difficulties, it’s up to Captain Hugh and his crew to calm the disgruntled passengers (including Rebecca Front, interviewed next week) and find a way to deal with the unexpected events on board. Josh Gad and Himesh Patel also star.
