While the closure of chi-chi food store Fallon & Byrne’s branch in the Dublin suburb of Rathmines is sad news, the blow to the area’s many committed foodies was softened by new grocery, The Source Bulk Foods. With so many of us doing our bit to cut down unnecessary waste and packaging, this zero waste shop has opened at the perfect time. I had a look last week and was seriously impressed with the range of foods on o er and at a pretty reasonable price too. Following the success of the brand’s existing stores in Australia and the UK, where they have helped their local customers save an estimated 600,000 units of single use plastic, The Source Bulk Foods range covers nutritious wholefoods, healthy treats, cooking liquids, household and personal care products. They have recyclable brown paper bags or if you have your own containers you can bring those and have your purchases weighed. I bought some delicious peanut salt caramel clusters and dark chocolate covered cranberries and I am looking forward to trying more from the range. thesourcebulkfoods.co.uk
