The host’s penultimate show of the week features a recording of the RDS Rising Star Concert with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and clarinetist Christopher Moriarty, which was recorded in November.

Christopher earned the opportunity to perform with the orchestra when he was awarded the 2018 RDS Jago Award, which is one of the prizes in the annual RDS Music Bursary Programme.

Their performance features a recital of Carl Nielsen’s Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 3 in A minor, Op 56 and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute Overture.

Former President Mary McAleese continues her new series which sees her joined on an epic walking adventure by a well-known personality, as the pair discuss a wide variety of issues including spirituality, faith and their personal values.

In this instalment, she meets with Dr Sindy Joyce, as the pair tackle the stunning Cosán na Naomh in Co Kerry.

Beginning their pilgrimage from Ventry Strand, Sindy reflects on her time living in a caravan in rural Ireland as a teenager.

They also discuss Sindy’s thirst for knowledge, which saw her become the first Traveller to be awarded a PhD and to be appointed to the Council of State.

Sindy also reveals her desire to pass on her traditions to the next generation.
