The footy is back! Plus, Sir Tom is on the radio (celebrating his 80th birthday), Radioactive is on demand and Parasite is on blu ray
Fans of Premier League footy rejoice – it’s back! Exactly one hundred days since Leicester beat Aston Villa 4-0, a period of repeats, round-ups and debates about on-pitch social distancing, it’s time for the Beautiful Game to return. It may all be taking place behind closed doors with players who can’t possibly be fully match t, but that won’t matter a jot when the whistle blows. All remaining 92 Premier League games will be screened, with four matches airing on the BBC; marking the rst time since the 1987/ ’88 season that the BBC will be screening live, top- ight footy.
In terms of unresolved matters: at the top end of the league, it’s only a matter of time before runaway leaders
Liverpool deservedly get their hands on their rst Premier League title. In fact, should Manchester City lose to Arsenal tonight, Jürgen Klopp’s men will be handed the coveted trophy by beating Everton. In terms of Champions League slots, City will be hoping to overturn their European ban but Leicester look nailed on for a European Cup place. Elsewhere, Chelsea, Man United and Wolves are all in the running, with Frank Lampard’s men rmly in the box seat. At the wrong end of the table, Norwich look doomed, but you could pick any two from Bournemouth, Villa, West Ham and Watford to join them in the Championship next season.
Fasten your seat belts: it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
