Back to Barrytown
9.30pm RTÉ One
Colm Meaney looks back on the trilogy of films by writer Roddy Doyle – The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van – 30 years on from the release of the acclaimed first instalment.
It’s a personal reflection for the actor, who appeared across the trilogy, as he reunites with the cast and crew who lovingly brought these movies to life.
Tonight, the first of this three-part retrospective on the Barrytown Trilogy focuses on The Commitments, as Colm explores the story behind Roddy’s self-published book that brought Hollywood to town, and created a cultural phenomenon along the way.
