You’d need a quare big sock for Marty Morrissey’s biography but you can bet this block-sized book, dedicated to those who love the Marty Party (as well as to his late father, Martin) will be at the end of a few beds this Christmas. Charting the unlikely rise of a sports broadcaster, from a tractor trailer to hosting RTÉ’S flagship show, The Sunday Game, this is pitched as the Full Marty. Yet despite its size, and forensic details (every person Marty worked with seemingly gets a mention) you’re left wondering, is that it? And the chapter titled ‘Mayo, Cluxton, Marriage and Jail’ is not about an All-ireland Final after-party where Marty tied the knot and ended up in jail.
