Coming up on November 20 & 21 at Draíocht Theatre in Blanchards­town, Dublin Youth Dance Company presents the 20th Irish Youth Dance Festival. It’s an exciting and diverse programme featuring live performanc­es and dance lms.

This unique and popular event o ers audiences the opportunit­y to see the most exciting young contempora­ry dance talent in Ireland.

This year’s festival features commission­ed choreograp­hic works by leading Irish talents: a group piece with DYDC senior dancers by Liz Roche (Liz Roche Company) and a dance piece with a mix of diverse and DYDC dancers by John Scott (Irish Modern Dance Theatre).

The festival is delighted to welcome choreograp­hers, artists and youth dance companies who will perform work created for DYDC as part of their ‘Resilience Programme’.

“Resilience is a series of special commission­s designed to sustain the youth dance community, the dance community at large and their sense of creativity and commitment to quality practice,” said Mariam Ribon, artistic director of Dublin Youth Dance Company.

Audiences can also enjoy a wide selection of new dance lms from the participan­ts of the Resilience programme as well as new work ‘Ripples’ from Draoícht’s Dance Artist in Residence Jess Rowell and Create Dance, Draíocht’s dance programme for young people with complex needs and a new dance lm from choreograp­her and dance artist Grant Mclay, co-ordinator of the BA for The Performing Arts at the University of Limerick.
