Nothing is as it seems

What is Abi up to? No good, is the answer to that. She makes an appearance at Alfie’s naming ceremony, where she manages to take some pictures of her son. She then meets up with old acquaintance Matty, handing him a couple of suspicious-looking envelopes before ordering him to ‘work his magic’.

Later, after playing the sympathy card with Toyah, Abi takes Alfie for a walk alone to the Red Rec. Imran is horrified and rushes over to confront her, asking what she thinks she’s playing at. Abi doesn’t tell him, of course, but she does ring Matty to confirm she’s willing to wait a week for her fake passports. Headteacher Mrs Crawshaw approaches Daniel with the news that a permanent post is about to become available at the school – and that she wants him to apply. Later, Ken appears to forgive his son for his past mistakes, something that goes down like a lead balloon with Tracy, who thinks it’s time Daniel paid for his misdemeanour.

She approaches David in the hope he will back her up, but they might not have to do anything at all – horrified by Tracy’s reaction to his possible job offer, Daniel decides to give up teaching altogether, which Nicky hopes is a sign they could have a future together.

Sally is thrilled when Tim wins a romantic getaway at Debbie’s hotel in a raffle, but he’s not so happy about it, realising that his ‘little problem’ will come to light again. He decides to buy some pills to help, ignoring the warning that they’re not suitable for anyone with a heart condition – a move he may regret.

It’s 11 years since John Stape died, so Fiz can be forgiven for thinking that he’s well behind her. However, the past rears its ugly head during an evening out with two of Phill’s friends – one of them turns out to have been the prosecution solicitor at the trial.

As she hasn’t told Phill anything about Stape, the news of her involvement with a serial killer comes as a surprise. But Fiz may be in for a shock too after Tyrone spots her new love handing a mystery man a large package when he knows he should be in Leeds. Elsewhere, Amy and Jacob’s broken boiler results in an embarrassing situation, while Max has a good first day at the Pupil Referral Unit.
