A proper knees-up at the Woolpack

-

Chas tells the Dingles that her breast cancer is down to the faulty BRCA2 gene, and there’s a strong chance that Cain, Caleb and Aaron could have it too – and potentially have passed it to their children.

Aaron is uneasy when his mum pushes him to make an appointment to get tested, while Ruby later wants to know what the Dingles are all talking about in the pub and won’t back down until Caleb tells her.

Realising Chas is embarrassed about having her health being a subject of debate in the Woolpack, Cain tries to intervene in the row – and ends up with a knee to the groin. Luckily, Chas’ female friends and family find a less painful way to support her as they try to reassure her that because the lump was found early, she has the best possible chance.

Marlon and Mary are concerned when Rhona reveals she intends to plead not guilty at her trial, but the news has the biggest impact on April. Concerned about what would happen if her stepmother goes to jail, April takes it upon herself to ask Gus to tell the police his ex is innocent – but in the process, she lets slip that Rhona has changed her plea.

He takes the teen home and confronts Rhona, but ends up getting into a scuffle with Marlon, which could make everything worse. So, Rhona is understandably surprised when Gus later proposes a compromise which would mean he would change his statement, give her access to Ivy and cancel the house sale – but what does he want in return?

Meanwhile, Belle is offered a job opportunity by Suzy, which earns her the silent treatment from Tom. He does start speaking to her eventually, as he needs to tell her that he’s volunteered her to talk to Angel about what she can expect from the Secure Children’s Home.

Although she’s reluctant to open up about her own experiences, Belle feels guilty saying no, and gives Angel such an honest picture of what to expect that the teen is terrified she’ll end up developing mental health issues.

Jimmy is furious to find Angel distraught, and blames Belle, who has even more reason to feel bad when Tom denies that it was all his idea.

At least things could be looking up for Suzy and Vanessa when they have a flirtatious encounter at the Woolpack.
