Red-carpet Zendaya

There are red-carpet looks, and then there are Zendaya red-carpet looks. The young actress has been killing it with her dazzling array of wardrobe choices while doing the rounds for Dune: Part Two. A particular highlight was this robotic / Metropolis little number (courtesy of Thierry Mugler archives she pulled out of the bag for the London premiere of the new sci-fi epic.

Pearl Jam

The legendary US rockers are back! Eddie Vedder and co. will release their 12th studio album, Dark Matter, on April 19, before launching into a 35-date worldwide tour in May. They are set to play in Marlay Park in Dubin on June 22, supported by Richard Ashcroft and The Murder Capital (who also feature in Other Voices this week). “We’re at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it,’’ quoth Eddie, “but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful and we hopefully think is our best work. No hyperbole, I think this is our best work.”

Piercing times

Septum piercings are still big news, with over 300,000 average monthly searches globally and 5 million Instagram hashtags. In fact, according to jewelleryb­ox.co.uk, they are the most popular piercing in the world. In the last few months, everyone from Zendaya to Florence Pugh (right) has rocked either a fake or legitimate septum ring, and it looks like a trend that’s sticking around.

By the book

World Book Day Ireland (or Lá Domhanda na Leabhar Éire as they say hereabouts) is on March 7 and is all about celebratin­g and encouragin­g reading. Two books, only available in Ireland and costing €1.50, will be published to mark the occasion, Inis Mara by Tristan Rosenstock (Irish) and The Curious Case of the Irish Yeti by Alan Nolan (English).

Everyone’s favourite Boyle-man has been off our screens for a while, but he’s been busy creating a new show for Sky. Small Town, Big Story stars Christina Hendricks and Paddy Considine. Set in the small town of Drumbán (and shot in Wicklow as well as Boyle, it’s described as a warm, witty, and very dramatic comedy, coming to our screens in autumn.
