Roy discovers who his true friends are

-

Poor Roy. He’s only ever tried to help people, and yet his kindness is about to backfire on him. He’s facing his biggest, most terrifying challenge yet as Lauren remains missing, presumed dead – and he’s the prime suspect.

Many of Weatherfield’s finest do, however, offer their support. Young Sam declares Roy is his BFF, and Nick promises that once everything is back to normal, he’ll be happy for his son to spend time with the café owner. But will life ever be normal again? It seems unlikely as Stu, someone who knows only too well what it’s like to be accused of a crime he didn’t commit, is mugged by someone he hoped would be able to help.

Meanwhile, Hayley’s son Christian posts hurtful things online about his stepfather, but things appear to be looking up when Roy’s plea for a meeting with Lauren’s mother bears fruit – Kerry appears at Roy’s Rolls and introduces herself to the owner and Nina. However, it turns out she’s an imposter called Alice who is keen to discredit him while making a name for herself – and a gullible Roy walks right into her trap.

Later, Dee-dee arrives at the café with devastating news for Carla, Nina, Shona and Evelyn – Roy has been charged with Lauren’s murder. There won’t be a dry eye in the house when viewers see him sitting alone, frozen in fear, in a police cell.

Liam and Dylan go missing as the day of their court hearing looms, and Maria threatens to isolate Gary by claiming that because he isn’t Liam’s biological father, he can’t possibly understand what she’s going through. He turns to Sarah for support, little realising Maria is watching their every move on her app. At that moment, Sarah learns that Damon has received a six-year sentence, and Maria is left horrified at the sight of her husband comforting his distraught ex. Elsewhere, Daisy’s dodgy dealings and lies leave her ostracised from her loved ones, while Ed is thrilled that the insurance company is going to pay out more than he expected. He decides to spend the money on a new set of tools so he can return to work, but his offspring think he would be better off using it to pay back a chunk of his debt.

Plus, Toyah worries about Leanne’s growing obsession with Rowan’s institute, and Simon has a new business idea.
