The ensemble cast returns for the traditional feature-length festive special, as the midwives at Poplar prepare for another busy Christmas period.

There’s a big decision to be made, as the nuns vote for a new Mother Superior.

From there they find themselves caring for a group of newly-arrived Chinese orphans – all in a day’s work for this lot.

Meanwhile, Trixie makes her big return, but a few things have changed since she was last here – in fact she’s shocked to hear that many mothers no longer want to give birth in their own homes.
