NAIL TRENDS THIS CHRISTMAS
fun
Pamela says: “We’re seeing a return to an accent on the ring finger, whether that’s with nail art, glitter or added bling.”
Finish
Pamela says: “gloss is in this party season, as high shine nails look sophisticated and expensive. Matt finishes are cool but hard to maintain, and suit summery pastels better. this season, people love full on glitter, especially holographic glitter, like essie’s glitter Nail Polish in Congrats, rather than shimmer. Metallics with a chrome finish like metallic gold, pewter, rose gold or silver are also having a moment.”
colour
Pamela says: “Berry and red tones are big and work so well on irish skin tones as well as most outfit choices. if you’re wearing rich velvet, then why not try a dark green or navy instead of black, shades which actually work better than black which can be harsh unless you have olive tones in your complexion. A navy blue looks richer, as does a graphite grey.”
on your toes
Pamela says: “i’m not into matching my polish on my toes and hands. Would you wear red shoes with a red dress? Probably not, so the same goes for your polish. When choosing a colour for your toes, choose something neutral. if you get a pedicure, unlike your hands which has a higher turnover, you will probably have that colour on for six weeks. Most people own a pair of sandals in black, nude and a colour so apply something that will go with all three. My old reliable is Sally Hansen’s game of Chromes, which is fab on toes and the opaque metallic finish covers a multitude of sins. this leaves you free to have some real fun with your fingernails!”
