* Fans of Penny Dreadful, the supernatural TV show that was set in Victorian London and featured Josh Hartnett, Eva Green and Sarah Green, will be pleased to hear that a follow-up series is on the cards. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will be set in LA in the late 1930s and according to showrunner John Logan, will “grapple with speci c historical and real world political, religious, social and racial issues.” None of the original cast will be returning when the show airs in 2019.

* e Doctor Who Christmas Day special has become as much a feature of the festive schedule as Willy Wonka… or e Great Escape, but not in 2018. e team behind the Timelord saga has con rmed that the 13th Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, will be lming a special hour-long episode, but it won’t air until the New Year. Perhaps the writers have simply exhausted their supply of killer snowmen and evil robot Santas.

* Walking Dead devotees (spoiler alert!) still coming to terms with the departure of Rick Grimes from the series will be pleased to hear that Andrew Lincoln has signed up to appear in no fewer than three spin-o Walking Dead movies. No word on the plots yet, but the creators have revealed that each lm will have a movie-sized budget and a feature length running time.
