Neurological Support Centre services remain available
SLIGO’s Neurological Support Centre has issued a reminder that their services are available throughout the festive period.
Mpath, the centre’s dedicated support system, offers a 24-7 phone line for anyone who finds themselves struggling with the impact of a neurological condition at any time. “After a difficult year, most of us are looking forward to some rest and family time as we celebrate the Christmas season. But for many, Christmas can also be a time of memories, loneliness and sadness,” said Bernadette Crilly, manager of the Neurological Support Centre. “Often, we see images of happy families that may not reflect our own experiences, and this can be exacerbated for those living with a long-term neurological condition, or for their families and carers.”
All calls to the centre are answered by an experienced health professional who will provide an important listening ear and can arrange follow-up counselling if appropriate or requested.
“At the moment this initial consultation is free of charge, and further sessions are heavily discounted by the Neurology Support Centre,” Bernadette Crilly said.
“In addition, the Mpath online platform offers a host of information and e-learning courses on areas such as sleep, anxiety and nutrition, and callers can also request advice on a range of areas including legal matters, financial affairs and mediation.” “We hope that in 2021 we may be able to invite more people through the doors of the Centre in Molloway House in Sligo. There is always someone available to talk to this Christmas.” To avail of the Mpath system, you must be registered with the Neurology Support Centre. The centre can be reached at mpath@neurologysc.ie or 071 9180318.
