Club says thanks to the teens who won
WITH sporting plans being put in place for 2021 and the page being turned on the strange year just past, CoolaneyMullinabreena GAA Club congratulate their only titlewinning team of 2020 – the club’s U-16 Gaelic footballers. This improving team won the Sligo U-16 ‘B’ Football Championship Shield, beating Eastern Harps by six points, 4-8 to 1-11, in an entertaining final played in Bunnanadden. Coolaney-Mullinabreena led by two points at half-time, 2-4 to 1-5, having netted in the firsthalf through Eoin Barrett and Matthew Miley.
The winners went a point down early in the second-half – following three points without reply from their opponents – but a brace of goals from Matthew Miley steadied the CoolaneyMullinabreena ship.
Along with Matthew Miley (3-0) and Eoin Barrett (1-0), Coolaney-Mullinabreena’s other scorers in the Shield decider were Oisin Gorman (0-3), Shane Feely (0-2), Danny Elfiki (0-1), Fionn McDermott (0-1) and Ciaran Gorman (0-1).
The winners, captained by Conor Johnston, defeated Calry-St Joseph’s in the Shield semi-final.
