Excellent trade at Ballymote Mart’s ‘Beef Bonanza’ sale
THERE was an excellent trade for last Thursday’s beef bonanza sale at Ballymote mart with a yard of mainly Continental stock on offer.
Bullocks under 500kg making from €400 to €745 over, eg LMx 495kg €1,240, SIx 495kg €1,190, CHx 450kg €1,180.
Lots 500 to 600kg making from €500 to €865 over, eg CHx 595kg €1,460, CHx 580kg €1,390, LMx 585kg €1,380, LMx 565kg €1,380, with heavier lots making up to €995 over, eg CHx 775kg €1,700, CHx 830kg €1,700, CHx 695kg €1,690, SIx 705kg €1,670.
Heifers making from €500 to €905 over, eg LMx 495kg €1,400, CHx 350kg €1,050, LMx 520kg €1,200. Dry cows making from €150 over (for Freisians) to €725 over, eg LMx 615kg €1,340, LMx 740kg €1,460. Weanling bulls making from €350 to €525 over, eg CHx 375kg €900, LMx 3,902kg €890, LMx 320kg €810.
Weanling heifers making from €350 to €535 over, eg LMx 365kg €900, LMx 290kg €790, CHx 300kg €800.
Today, Thursday, there is a special sale of breeding/feeding and store heifers in conjunction with usual lots.
Next Thursday, February 25, there is a special sale of dry cows.
Trade was strong at last Tuesday week’s sheep sale with strong demand across all sections.
Lots under 40kg making from €40 to €66.50 over, eg 38.5kg €105, 35kg €100, 35.5kg €100.
Lots 40 to 45kg making from €42 to €71 over, eg 41kg €112, 40.5kg €110, 42kg €110. Lots 45 to 50kg making from €47 to €89 over, eg 49kg €138, 47.5kg €135, 47kg €131, with heavier lots making up to €93.50 over, eg 54.5kg €148, 59.5kg €146, 61.5kg €145.
Store cull ewes making from €40 to €85, with fleshed lots making from €100 to €130 per head.
Ewes with lambs at foot making from €190 to €26 per unit.
In-lamb ewes making from €140 to €160 per head.
