It couldn’t have happened to a lovelier person!

-

TWO people in Sligo turned €2 and €3 into €15,000 and €30,000 respectively this week after claiming big wins in national lottery games.

One of those two people was Sligo Weekender owner Dorothy Crean, who received the unexpected birthday present of being €15,000 richer thanks to a €2 All Cash scratch card received from her neighbours Conor and Shannon McNamara.

The lucky scratch card was purchased at the Hilltop service station in her native Culleens.

In a post on Facebook, the owner of the service station said: “Anyone locally who knows Dot will feel the same as our team in that it could not have happened to a lovelier person.

“Dot is very involved with the local community and always on hand to help in any way. We think that all of her good deeds have made their way back to her.” Meanwhile, a Sligo man scooped €30,000 after playing the National Lottery online game Kick Off Cash, which costs €3 per play. The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke of his joy after receiving his National Lottery prize cheque.

He said: “When I saw the €30,000 pop up on screen, I couldn’t believe it. I have never won anything like this before. “The most I have ever won would just be a few euro, so I really didn’t expect to see the top prize on my screen.

“I am still a bit shocked to be honest but I’m over the moon. I haven’t made a plan of what to do just yet but hopefully I can enjoy it more after lockdown.”
