Coolaney-Mullinabreena’s players are ready to climb Everest (via Knocknashee!)
PLAYERS from CoolaneyMullinabreena GAA Club are doing their bit for a good cause this Saturday by climbing Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak above sea level. A group of 36 players will take on Everest’s elevation, which is approximately 9,000 metres, by scaling the height of Knocknashee Hill 32 times
(275 metres).
The event starts at 8am and continues until 8pm. The participants will be divided into small groups. At all times social distancing will be observed and Covid-19 guidelines will be adhered to. Funds raised go towards Organ Donor lar course as the one required last year. For further details go to learning.gaa.ie/covid19learning. awareness campaign. Saturday’s event is the brainchild of club player Shane O’Brien, a well-known Coolaney-Mullinabreena Gaelic footballer. A GoFundMePage has been set up to make donations. “All donations are hugely appreciated, thanks to everyone for their support,” said O’Brien, pictured. Coolaney-Mullinabreena GAA Club are already involved in organ donor awareness. There is signage at the club’s facilities, Nace O’Dowd Park, and the back of the club jersey carries the campaign’s slogan ‘Are you
an Organ Donor?’
