Apartment in Dromore West set to be raffled

AN APARTMENT in west Sligo is currently being raffled.

Padraic and Marie Culkin have made the fully-furnished Dromore West apartment available at £15 (€17.39) a ticket – with two charities to receive a donation at the raffle’s conclusion.

On choosing to raffle the apartment as opposed to selling it, Padraic said: “It’s a new way of doing this. We saw it getting popular and it gives us an opporunity to make a charity donation if we manage to raffle off the apartment.

“We weren’t sure what the market would be like if we just put it up for sale, so we said we would try this avenue and see how it goes.”

“It is fully furnished and ready to be moved into,” he continued. “Looking at it from the outside it is a very good return for a ticket that costs less than €20. It is appealing for someone not from the locality as there is a good rental market out here and the resale value would be quite strong too.”

The draw went live last week with a quick uptake in local interest. They are welcoming entries from everywhere, with a maximum 20,000 tickets available for the raffle.

Padraic said: “We set it up last Friday. We have had a strong response locally already, ticket sales are exceeding our expectations for this stage so we are very happy with how things have started. If we sell all of our 20,000 tickets we will be able to make a donation of €40,000 to our chosen charities – Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and North West Hospice.”
