Sligo’s Freya on 30 Under 30 list

- By Alan Finn

A LOCAL woman has been named among Ireland’s most exciting young tech experts under the age of 30.

Freya Ronan from Rosses Point featured in the Business Post’s annual 30 Under 30 list, which shines a light on young up-and-comers blazing a trail in their respective industries. The 30 experts – which also includes a Nasa datanaut, co-founders of a company manufacturing a touchscreen smart mirror and the founder of a data security company – were not selected in any particular order.

Freya is the senior vice-president of human resources at LetsGetChecked, a business which specialises in at-home health testing kits.

Her profile in the Business Post reads: “Ronan is the senior vice-president of human resources at LetsGetChecked. Given that the business added 160 staff during the pandemic, it’s safe to say she’s had a rather busy year.” It continues: “She had to bring in those hires as LetsGetChecked needed all hands on deck to spin up a Covid-19 testing platform. Ronan also oversaw the development and opening of a new lab for the business in Dublin.” Speaking to the Sligo Weekender, the 26-year-old explained how she has witnessed the business grow since. Freya said: “I have been working with LetsGetChecked for two-and-a-half years. When I arrived there was 38 employees, now there is over 600. We are based in Dun Laoghaire and have expanded into the United States having also recently opened a lab in Dublin.”

She further explained that her role is based in the day-to-day operations of LetsGetChecked, from recruitment to engagement. LetsGetChecked specialises in at-home kits for a range of needs from general health to specifics such as sexual health and, more recently, Covid testing.

On keeping up with the world with this new arm of their range of at-home testing, she said: “We are extremely focused on what we can do in the future and this company is quickly growing all the time.” On being selected for the 30 Under 30 list, she said: “It is great to be part of the growth here. It was very exciting not only for myself to be included in this list, but it also gets the name of the company out there as well.”
