Customers visit Harrison’s new outdoor terrace

-

HARRISON’s bar and restaurant in Cliffoney opened its new outdoor dining area called the Terrace on Monday. Owner Declan Harrison said that it went “extremely well”.

“We had been booked out for about two weeks and it was very, very busy. When it was announced that there was to be outdoor dining we had emails and phone calls from our regular customers but also from others.

“It was great to see all the familiar faces of a lot of our regulars but also some new ones as well,” he said. He said that the new area is well covered and it was able to deal with a bit of drizzle. But he said that people were “well equipped and ready for outdoor dining”.

“Some people who were on outside benches for a drink came with the big swimming coats people use after sea swimming,” he said.

He said that the pints and cocktails were “definitely flowing” and people were “delighted to be able to get a proper pint of Guinness”.

Declan said that the overwhelming feeling for himself and his staff was “relief” to be at the stage where they were back open.

“There are a lot of people with a lot of bills to pay,” he said.

And he said that apart from the staff they already have back there are going to be welcoming 10 new staff when indoor dining returns next month. “I can’t wait to have the full premises open next month. There will still be social distancing but we will have the space between the indoor and the outdoor and our new Terrace area givers people the option of eating in or out.” Declan said that it also looked like they were going to be busy for the rest of the week and he said they already have a lot of bookings for the weekends well into next month.
