Bus Éireann says it plans to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
BUS ÉIREANN, which employs 82 people in Sligo, has announced that it is committed to halving its greenhouse gas emissions while growing passenger numbers by 30% in the next 10 years. Playing a major role in that will be Rory Leahy, who is now chief safety and sustainability officer with Bus Éireann. He was previously the regional manager in Sligo.
He said: “This will mean transformational change, new fleet, new charging systems and new training for craftworkers in Sligo. “We are already well on the way here, with buses generating up to five times less emissions than cars per passenger kilometre. We hope these developments will help to make bus travel the first choice for people in Sligo,” he said
