RUGBY: Sligo RFC are continuing their recruitment drive for the 202122 season with the appointment of Letterkenny native Kieran O’Gorman as the club’s first XV assistant coach. O’Gorman, who studied at and played for Sligo Grammar School, captained the Leinster Junior rugby team and was player-coach with Longford RFC.

The new addition to Sligo RFC’s backroom team, who will be the first XV’s forwards coach, previously played for Buccaneers (Athlone) and Dublin’s Old Belvedere, with whom he won an All-Ireland League Division 1A title.

The openside flanker, who will register with Sligo RFC as a first XV player, has also been selected on the Ireland Club squad, a representative squad comprising of AIL players. O’Gorman will be working alongside Sligo RFC’s new player-coach Josh Reeves, a New Zealander who plays international rugby with Brazil.
