ATHLETICS: Sligo AC’s Matthew McMeekin was the leading runner in Bank Holiday Monday’s Calry AC 5k road race. McMeekin clocked 15:50 and had only seconds to spare over runner-up Seamus Somers, also of Sligo AC, who ran 16:04. Ballina AC’s Dessie Burke was third with a time of 16:12. Martin Brennan and Donal Egan completed the top five with times of 16:53 and 17:08 respectively. The first female finisher was Cora Regan, who was 11th on a time of 19:01.
