Demand very high at special Angus and Hereford sale at Ballymote Mart
THURSDAY’s Special Dry Cow and Special Angus and Hereford Sale in Ballymote saw an exceptional trade with demand very high. There was a great demand from ringside and online customers for the Angus bullocks and weanling bulls on offer leading to some fancy prices. Bullocks under 400kg making from €300 to €645 over, eg AAXx 345kg €990, AAx 365kg €990, AAx 365kg €960, AAx 360kg €950 (All 2020 born). Lots 400 to 500kg making from €600 to €745 over, eg AAx 425kg €1,170, AAx 460kg €1,100, (both 2020 born), with heavier lots making up to €830 over, eg CHx 630kg €1,460, HEx 585kg €1,350, HEx 555kg €1,300. Heifers under 400kg making from €350 to €700 over, eg CHx 340kg €1,040, CHx 385kg €1,070, AAx 395kg €1,060.
Lots 400 to 500kg making from €500 to €700 over, eg PTx 440kg €1,140, LMx 460kg €1,150, AAx 460kg €1,120, with heavier lots making up to €755 over, eg CHx 575kg €1,330, CHx 500kg €1,230, LMx 580kg €1,320.
There was some exceptional continental dry cows on offer.

Today, Thursday, June 25, there is a Special Bullock and Bull Weanling sale and on July 1 there is a Special Heifer and Weanling Heifer Sale. The Tuesday night Sheep Sale at Ballymote mart last week saw a strong trade for all types.
Lots achieving top prices were lambs 45kg plus being creep fed. Lots 35 to 40kg were making from €65 to to €91.50 over,eg 36.5kg €128, 38kg €126. Lots 40 to 45kg making from €90 to €100.50 over,eg 44.5kg €145, 44kg €144, 44.5kg €144,
Lots 45 to 50kg making from 93 to 108.50 over,eg 47.5kg €156, 49.5kg €154, 47.5kg €154, with heavier lots making up to €137 over, eg 55kg €192 (ewe lambs), 69kg €194 (breeding type ram lamb), 62.5kg €170, 51kg €161, 52.5kg €158.
Cull ewes stores from €56 to €100. Fleshed lots from €110 to €140 with exceptional lots making up to €170 per head.
