More drama in SIS Pitches competitions
CARBURY FC recorded a second successive victory in the SIS Pitches Super League Cup. Last Sunday they were 3-2 winners over Cartron United in a Group One fixture at Forthill. First-half goals from Jason Lyons and Gary Armstrong, who converted a penalty, gave Carbury a 2-0 interval lead.
Lyons’ second goal seemed to put Carbury on easy street with half an hour remaining. But Cartron United made a game of it thanks to goals from Donal Gallagher and Enda McGowan, who netted from the spot with five minutes to go. Also in Group One, Real Tubber hammered Ballisodare United 4-0. Daniel Gorman bagged a hat-trick for the home side. Rhys Henry was Real Tubber’s other goalscorer.
Strand Celtic scored 10 times in their Group Two demolition of Aughanagh Celtic. It finished 10-1. On target for a rampant Strand Celtic were Aaron O’Boyle (2), Lee Wilson (2), Matthew Oates (2), Niall McDermott (2), Daniel Gray and Conor McKeon. Marcus Guckian scored for an understrength Aughanagh Celtic.
Second-half goals from Bradley Fowley and Adam Devaney gave MCR FC a 2-0 win away to Merville United.
In the SIS Pitches Premier League Cup, Glenview Stars won 3-1 away to north Sligo’s Benbulben FC. Clive Brennan, Ronan O’Grady and Seamus O’Boyle scored for Glenview Stars. Daithi McGloin netted for the hosts.
Ronan Martin’s goal for Kilglass-Enniscrone United gave them an edge away to Ballygawley Celtic, who equalised in stoppage time through Aidan Kilpatrick.
Meanwhile, there were three walkovers given last Sunday. Manorhamilton Rangers got a 3-0 result without having to kick a ball against Ballymote Celtic, who forfeited their scheduled Super League Cup tie, likewise Drohamair FC, who were victorious over Gurteen Celtic (who have withdrawn from the Premier League Cup competition).
Because of Covid-19 issues, Coolaney United conceded their away fixture against Carrick Town in the Premier League Cup.
