Rovers’ 6 underage teams begin season

SOCCER: The EA SPORTS League of Ireland National Underage Leagues begin this weekend.

Sligo Rovers will field six teams in this competitio­n – Women’s U-17, Women’s U-19, Men’s U-14, Men’s U-15, Men’s U-17 and Men’s U-19.

Rovers are in Group ‘A’ of the EA SPORTS U-14 National League of Ireland. They are away to Finn Harps this Saturday. In the EA SPORTS U-15 National League of Ireland, Rovers are also in Group ‘A’. Their opening fixture is the hosting of Finn Harps on Saturday.

At U-17 level, Rovers’ first Group ‘A’ game is a home fixture against Dundalk this Saturday.

The club’s U-19 team, placed in Group ‘B’ of the EA SPORTS U-19 National League of Ireland, are away to Derry City this coming Sunday.

Rovers Women’s U-17 team have a Group ‘A’ assignment at home to the Donegal Women’s League on Saturday. The inaugural EA SPORTS Women’s U-19 League, which sees Rovers compete in Group ‘B’, starts with a home fixture for Rovers – they play Bohemians on Sunday.

EA SPORTS are the new title sponsor of the FAI’s National Underage Leagues. EA SPORTS FIFA Marketing Director James Salmon said: “EA SPORTS have had a long-standing partnershi­p with the FAI and we’re thrilled to continue our associatio­n by becoming the official sponsor of the National Underage Leagues.”

EA SPORTS will sponsor all League, Shield and Cup competitio­ns across both male and female academy systems with this innovative new sponsorshi­p.
