Excellent trade at the Beef Bonanza sale in Ballymote
THERE was an excellent yard of cattle on offer at the Beef Bonanza Sale at Ballymote mart last Thursday, with an excellent trade to match. Heavy bullocks and heifers were in keen demand.
Bullocks under 400kg making from €400 to €625 over, eg AAx 390kg €990, 355kg €960, LMx 325kg €950.
Lots 400 to 500kg making from €500 to €800 over, eg CHx 470kg 1270, LM 480kg €1,240, AAx 490kg €1,200.
Lots 500 to 600kg making from €600 to €1,060 over, eg LMx 580kg €1,640, CHx 595kg €1,570, LMx 545kg €1,450, CHx 595kg €1,480, with heavier lots making up to €1,220 over, eg LMx 760kg €1,980, CH 725kg €1,920, CHx 760kg €1,870, CHx 715kg €,1840, CHx 655kg €1,750.
Heifers under 400kg making from €450 to €605 over, eg CHx 385kg €990, CHx 385kg €960, LMx 320kg €900.
Lots 400 to 500kg making from €580 to €730 over, eg CHx 460kg €1,190, 485kg €1,180, LMx 435kg €1,170.

Sucklers were making from €1,430 to €1,900 per unit, eg 2016 LMx cow with CHx heifer at foot €1,900.
Trade was improved at the sheep sale on Tuesday week last with greater demand for all lots. Heavy lots over 45kg were especially strong.
Trade for quality ewe lambs suitable for breeding is beginning to take off as well.
There has been increasing interest in store lambs weekly. Lots under 35kg were making from €45 to €57 over, eg 34 €91, 32kg €81.
Lots 35 to 40kg making from €50 to €83 over, eg 38kg €121 (ewe lambs), 37kg €111, 39kg €105. Lots 40 to 45kg making from €55 to €90 over, eg 40kg €130 (ewe lambs), 44kg €128, 44kg €127. Lots 45 to 50kg making from €58 to €92.50 over, eg 47.5kg €140 (ewe lambs) 49kg €139, 46.5kg €138, 47.5kg €137, 49kg €137, with heavier lots making up to €91 over, eg 57kg €146, 52kg €141, 50kg €141, 52kg €140.
Cull ewes stores were making from €78 to €100. Heavy lots making from €120 to €180 with exceptional lots to €220 per head. Breeding types from €150 to €200. Hoggets with lambs making up to €300 per unit.
