RESULTS The results of the 9-hole mixed competitio­n held on Monday of last week, August 9, were as follows: 1, Colm Martyn 23pts. The 9-hole mixed competitio­n held on the following day, August 10, was won by Peter Byrne. His score was 22 points.

RESULTS On Wednesday of last week there was a 15-hole competitio­n for the Senior Society. The winner here was James Gavin, whose score was 35 points. The Pink Day charity competitio­n (a fourball betterball) was won by Mary Corcoran and Mary Dolan – they posted a score of 43 points.

RESULTS Last Friday’s mixed open was won by Michael Keane. His score of 38 points included birdies on the second and the ninth holes.

RESULTS The results of last Saturday’s competitio­n, which was sponsored by TopChem Pharmaceut­icals, were as follows; 1, Zbigniew Pikul (20) 44pts; 2, Gerard Fitzpatric­k (16) 42pts; 3, Frank Carroll (16) 41pts.

Dufficy (6) 41pts (B9); 3, John McManus (28) 41pts; 4, Ross Clifford (16) 38pts (B9); 5, Joe Noonan (20) 38pts (B6); 6, pars in succession. Runner-up Gerard Fitzpatric­k had 10 pars on his card, while Frank Carroll, who was third, drew a blank at the second hole – his only error.

RESULTS Last Sunday’s v-par competitio­n was sponsored by Mullane Plant Hire. The results were as follows: 1, Norman Ashe (14) 4 up; 2, Dessie Melly (21) 3 up; 3, Padraic Scanlon (15) 3 up.

FIXTURES Today, Thursday, the Granard Cup – a stroke competitio­n – takes place for members of the Ladies Branch.

Tomorrow, Friday, sees two mixed competitio­ns, a single stableford for individual­s and a social 10-hole foursomes (5.30pm start). Saturday’s competitio­n is sponsored by Kearns’ Centra (Caltragh).

This Sunday (August 22) sees the Strandhill Cup, a stroke competitio­n, going ahead, with Culkin Electrical as the sponsors.

THANKS The club thanks all of its members who came out to assist with the repairing of divots on the course. “This is vital voluntary work which helps keep the course in great condition,” said a club statement.
