Welcome for Ballymote crossing

-

A NEW pedestrian safe crossing planned for Ballymote has been welcomed by local Cllr Dara Mulvey. He said the need for a safe pedestrian crossing for the people of Ballymote on the R293 road is something he has raised on various occasions with Sligo County Council.

“I am delighted that an application for funding has been submitted and plans are proposed for a pedestrian crossing and traffic calming measures for the Sligo Road, Ballymote, near the Gala Filling station and Loftus Hall.

“The pedestrian crossing will facilitate all walkers, especially school children, the elderly and all crossing the R293 at this location as it is a very busy stretch of road. “The proposals will improve the pedestrian facilities, in particular facilities for vulnerable road users, while providing a mechanism for reducing traffic speeds on approach to the town centre. It will also afford a safe walking route to community parks on the eastern side of Ballymote,” he said.
