Sean Keane on stage

Tonight, April 14, Seán Keane is returning to the stage after an absence of 18 months due to Covid-19 restrictio­ns. Seán will be accompanie­d at the Hawk’s Well by Pat Coyne on guitar and Fergus Feely on mandocello. There will be some new songs to the set list. Songs like ‘I’ll Be There’

‘You Are Loved’ and ‘Whispered’ will join his favourites like ‘Never Alone’,

Sligo Baroque Orchestra

Sligo Baroque Orchestra is celebratin­g over 30 years of music making in the region, having begun its life towards the end of 1990.

Sligo Baroque Orchestra will be joined later this month at the Hawk’s Well by past members, collaborat­ors and guests in a very celebrator­y concert which will feature music by Vivaldi, Handel, Telemann and Purcell. Eastern Harps Camino walk

Eastern Harps GAA Club are holding a Camino walk this Saturday. It will start from the Eastern Harps clubhouse at Fr Kevin Brehony Park, Kesh, and loop back to the clubhouse.

This is a 34 kilometre route set in the heart of south-east County Sligo. It can be completed at your own leisurely pace. You can stop off at the community café in Ballinafad for refreshmen­ts before you head off again.

The organisers are providing changing rooms along with hot showers to all participan­ts.

They will present all participan­ts with souvenirs of their day and if you have the energy you can round off the day with music and different beverages to suit all taste buds.

Easter event at golf club

There will be an Easter golf event for U-13s at County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses Point. It is an ideal event for beginner golfers with no handicap. Lunch is provided at the venue. The event takes place this Monday, April 18, from 12 noon to 4pm. Book on eventbrite.ie

Songwriter­s showcase

Kieran Quinn presents the talent from Sligo’s young up and coming songwriter­s. Returning after successful runs in previous years, the Young Songwriter­s showcase will bring the best original music from teenagers of Sligo and the north-west. There will be entries from secondary school pupils, those in transition year as well as fifth and and sixth year. The show takes place in The Model tomorrow, Friday, at 8pm.

An evening of whiskey tasting

There will be a whiskey tasting at Thomas Connolly bar later this month, Thursday, April 28 (7.30pm).

This will be hosted by Martin Lawrence.

On the night, Martin will take you through the history of Scotch Whisky while sampling some outstandin­g whiskies, including Bowmore, Auchentosh­an, Bunnahabha­in and Glenlivet.Tickets are €25 for members and €30 for non-members.

Psychic night in the Radisson

A psychic night will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Ballincar, on Friday, April 29 (8pm).

FAI’s walking football clinic

There will be a walking football informatio­n and coaching clinic led by the FAI at Skreen-Dromard Community Centre on Thursday, April 28 (7pm to 9pm).

Walking football is a slower version of soccer.

It is a new exercise concept in associatio­n with the FAI. It’s a non-contact form of exercise, played indoor or outdoors and supervised by trained staff to ensure that it is safe and enjoyable.

This clinic is to support club coaches, volunteers and staff interested in delivering this initiative.

Half-marathon in Carney

The annual Carney Easter Monday 10km and onaugural half-marathon will take place on Bank Monday next, April 18.

The course for 10km will be a looped course, with the half-marathon extending on towards Raghley harbour and surrounds.

There will be tea and coffee refreshmen­ts. Places will be strictly limited and on a first come, first served basis. Strictly no entries on the day.

Stories and fun at library

Next Wednesday, April 20, Kerry Golding will have stories and fun for children aged five and older at Sligo Library on Stephen Street, Sligo town. This event is taking place as part of the library’s ongoing Spring Into Storytime programme. The event starts at 11.30am.

Crystal science workshop

On Tuesday next, April 19, there will be a science workshop at Sligo Library. In this workshop you can learn about crystals, geodes and much more.

The workshop takes place 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
