Lillies weekly jazz club
A jazz club is taking place upstairs in Lillies on Bridge Street every Thursday.
Eddie Lee, Sam Purcell and Nils Kavanagh perform at 7pm each week.
This is a free event.
Channel Cup Swim in Rosses Point
The annual Channel Cup Swim takes place in Rosses Point this Saturday, September 10.
Online registration is now open for the swim with 100 places available. This year swimmers can chose to swim either a competitive or social swim.
All swimmers will start from Tommy’s Island.
There will be a female and male competitive pod who will compete for a first and second place trophy in each category.
Swimmers who choose a social swim will enter the water in pods of approximately 10 people.
The finish line and exit will be at the slip beside the RNLI station. Swimmers must register in person tomorrow, Friday, at Sligo Bay Lifeboat station between 6pm and 8 pm. The swim is in aid of the RNLI and there will be no refunds issued.
This event will be strictly for over 18s only and wetsuits are compulsory.
A post-swim barbeque and presentation will then take place later in the evening.
The swim begins at 6.15pm.

Three Counties Tour cycle
This Saturday, September 10, Innisfree Wheelers’ Three Counties Tour takes place commencing from The Mercy College Gym at 10am. This event is one of the oldest leisure cycling events in the northwest.
Cyclists will take in the breath-taking scenery of counties Sligo, Leitrim, and Roscommon.
Entry fee (online only) is €30 for Cycling Ireland members and €40 for non-members.
The 85km event will suit the most leisure cyclists. The course is designed to be suitable for good steady leisure riding, as there are no categorised climbs on any part of this scenic course.
In the this event, cyclists will witness spectacular views of Knocknarea Mountain, Lough Gill, Lough Allen, the Ox Mountains and Arigna Mountains.
Sligo Badminton Club open evening
On Tuesday, September 13, Sligo Badminton Club open evening will take place at 8pm.
They look forward to welcoming beginners and returning members. Badminton is a social sport where its season runs from September to April. Club nights are every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm.
If you are free, please join them to try out a new sport.
They have an eight-week programme for beginners to get you up to speed on all things badminton.

Beside The Sea at The Model
On Wednesday, September 14, ‘Beside the Sea’ will be showing in The Model at 8pm. Beside the Sea” is an ambitious and innovative work of music theatre by composer Ian Wilson for violinist, soundtrack and found objects that explores ideas around memory, personhood and how to evoke a life and its trajectory through music.
Wilson wanted to make this piece since his father died four years ago after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He said: “The goal is a work of art which examines how much of a role memory has in making a person and what part music can also have in that.” Admission is €10.

Spanish Armada walk and talk
On Friday, September 16, there will be a walk from Streedagh Beach by the Armada monument and on towards Staad Abbey – Spanish Armada Trail at 5pm.
This walk in the company of an experienced tour guide will see walkers told of the fascinating story of the Spanish Armada.
This ‘walk and talk’ tour of some of the key locations, including the Armada Monument, the ruins of Staad Abbey and Streedagh Beach itself, where the wrecks of La Juliana, Santa María de Visón and La Lavia lay buried under the sand. Register on eventbrite.ie.
