THE EMPIRE strikes back. Tourlestra­ne’s three-point defeat of Coolera-Strandhill last Saturday evening at Markievicz Park, 1-15 to 1-12, felt like a pronouncem­ent of power by the holders: Be warned, we’re back. But, then again, did the holders – winners of the last six Homeland Senior Football Championsh­ips – ever truly go away? This result puts Tourlestra­ne into the semi-finals, with their final Group Two game to come, while last year’s finalists Coolera-Strandhill are almost certain not to reach the knockout stages unless two results – their own and that of Tourlestra­ne – go their way this weekend.
