ANY upgrading of the sewerage scheme in Mullaghmore could be a minimum of three years away, 2025, and may be even further down the line than then.

In a response to Cllr Tom Fox, who sought a progress report on the upgrading of the sewerage scheme in Mullaghmore, he was told construction will not start until Irish Water’s revenue spend period known as RC4, which covers the years 2025 to 2029.

Cllr Fox asked for the progress report at a municipal district meeting of the Sligo-Drumcliffe area and was told the reports issue directly from Irish Water and not the local authority.

However, the council reply stated it was their understanding that funding would be from 2025 to 2029.

The reply in full stated: “Irish Water’s current Capital Investment Plan is covered by the Water Services Regulators (CRU) Revenue Control Period RC3 covering the period 2020-2024.

Given the substantial amount of work required for the Mullaghmore project it is likely the Mullaghmore Project will not commence construction until Revenue Control Period RC4 covering the period 2025-2029.
