BALLYMOTE

ADULT COUNSELLIN­G: Every Friday from 9pm to 5pm in the Family Resource Centre. Call 071 9197818 to book a place.

PERSONAL GROWTH: A new sixweek self developmen­t group for young people aged 15-20 years will be starting at Ballymote FRC on October 10 from 4.15pm to 5.45pm.

PLAY THERAPY: Play Therapy takes place on Monday and Thursdays between 9am and 5pm in the Family Resource Centre.

KIDS YOGA: Yoga classes for children will be starting at Ballymote FRC on Wednesday, September 14 until Monday, October 19. There will be two separate classes, one for children aged 6-9 years from 3.20pm until 4.05pm and there will also be a class for children aged 10-13 years from 4.15pm until 5pm. TIDY TOWNS WINNERS: Ballymote Tidy Towns are delighted to announce the winners of the estates competitio­n, 1st place Bothar an Corran, 2nd place Hillview Drive and 3rd place Cois na Dun. Well done to all the residents. You can still enter in to the August photo competitio­n, this month’s theme is Historic Buildings in Ballymote. OPEN DAY: Ballymote FRC will be holding an open day Saturday, October 22 from 11.30am until 2pm. The open day will include coding for kids aged 10-12, informatio­n stands and lots of fun activities for all the family.

MUSIC CREATION WORKSHOPS:

Music workshops will be held at Ballymote FRC on November 2 and 3 from 12.30pm until 4.30pm. These workshops will include how to build musical instrument­s and how to record music.

SOCIAL DANCING CLASSES: Are held in The Loftus Hall, Ballymote, on Sunday evenings at 7pm until 9.30pm. Learn how to jive, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, line dance and more, in a relaxed and fun environmen­t. No partners required. Refreshmen­ts served. All welcome.

DAYTIME YOGA: Daytime yoga classes are running on Tuesdays from 9.30am until 10.30am. To book, contact Aoife Kane on 086-894 9040.

EVENING YOGA: Evening yoga classes will be resuming at Ballymote FRC on Thursdays from 6.30pm until 9.30pm. Please call Therese Ryan on 086-3230197 to book a place.

PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP:

The parent and toddler group will be resuming on September 7 at Ballymote FRC. Every Wednesday from 10am until 12 noon.

SENSORY ROOM: The Family Resourcce Centre has a fully equipped sensory room at the centre which is available for use by any families with children who experience sensory issues. Use of the room is free and limited to single family units. To book please call 071 9197818.

ART GROUP: Every Thursday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm in the Family Resource Centre. Call Paul at 0861990478 to book a place. a place.

This conversati­on hour in the Family Resource Centre is aimed at anyone who wants to practice speaking English.

MABS: If you are worried about money MABS will be holding an outreach clinic at Ballymote FRC every second Tuesday. Contact MABS on 0818 07 2730 for an appointmen­t.

WALKING GROUP: The walking group leaves from Ballymote FRC from 10.30am and returns at 11.30am every Tuesday. Call 071 9197818 to book a place.

FOOD PACKAGES: Free food packages are available under the FEAD program for people on low incomes.

DROP IN IT CLINIC:A drop in IT clinic will be starting at Ballymote FRC. Anyone needing help with computers, tablets, smartphone­s, or laptops can drop in to the centre Monday 3.30pm to 4.45pm or Thursday 10am to 12pm. Call 0719197818 for more informatio­n.

SAFETALK: Safetalk is a half-day in person training program that prepares participan­ts to recognise and engage with people who may be having suicidal thoughts. PENDANT ALARMS: Merville Community Centre facilitate­s on behalf of our community the provision to eligible persons of

Social Monitored Pendant Alarms, under the Seniors Alert Scheme that is administer­ed by Pobal. Equipment funding is available for eligible persons over 65 years for the installati­on of an monitored alarm on a landline in the person’s home. The alarms are now available for persons aged 65 or older and living alone, living with another person who meets the terms and conditions, living alone for significan­t periods of time during the day, or is a carer to someone else in their household. First year monitoring is now free for all new applicants.

Subsequent annual monitoring charges are then payable by the user. Contact Merville Centre Office at 071 9150029 for further informatio­n.

ANNETTE’S COFFEE DAY: Once again this year Annette’s Hairdressi­ng Saloon Ballinacar­row will host a North West Hospice coffee day on Wednesday September 21. It will take place on the forecourt of Fallon’s Filling Station Ballinacar­row . Please join us for a cuppa and something nice.

CARDS: The card game returns after a long absense due to the pandemic it resumes on Thursday October 6 in the community centre in Ballinacar­row at 9pm. Looking forward to seeing all the card players and hopefully some new ones all are very welcome to a great social night out.

And best wishes for the future to the students who received their college places this week and to all who are pursuing work and other carreers may they all find their place in life.

ALONE: A Digital Hub is now open for those aged 60 + in the community centre Coolaney.

It will offer guidance to learn to use technology devices, virtual social groups. Telehealth and family/friends video calling facilities.

LOCAL TRANSPORT: The Tubbercurr­y Access Bus travels to and from Sligo every Wednesday morning picking up people from the place of residence, travelling to Mullinabre­ena, Coolaney, Ballinacar­row etc.

It arrives at Tesco car park at approximat­ely 11am and departs again from the car park at 1pm.

This is a great service that allows people to avail of their bus pass.

FARMERS’ MARKET: The Farmers’ Market continues in Achonry every Saturday morning from 10am to

1pm.

Great selection of fruit, vegetables, eggs and many more items on display.
