CALRY-St Joseph’s were left wondering how their year went up in smoke due to the concession of four goals in 14 first-half minutes at Markievicz Park.

Shamrock Gaels, now through to the Homeland Senior Football Championsh­ip semi-finals as a result of last Sunday’s 4-13 to 0-14 win, were joyfully left planning for Operation HTTT (How To Topple Tourlestra­ne). Favourites to dictate this win-orbust Group One tie, Shamrock Gaels oozed the collective grit and industry that has often eluded them in the past, one of the reasons why the club that is 50 years old this year has to go back to 1992 for its last Owen B Hunt Cup triumph.
