Group games in SHC

-

THE fifth and final series of round-robin games in this year’s Sligo Senior Hurling Championship takes place this coming Sunday.

Holders Easkey, who lead the six-team group with a 100% record, take on their west Sligo rivals, Western Gaels, at Quigabar – home of Enniscrone-Kilglass GAA Club. Unbeaten Easkey have already qualified for the knockout stages. Western Gaels can reach the last four if they win or draw.

Last year’s finalists Naomh Eoin, who are second in the standings, are away to Tourlestrane, who are winless. Naomh Eoin will be expected to win very well and so confirm their semi-final berth

There is meaning to the clash of Coolera-Strandhill and Calry-St Joseph’s at Ransboro Park. Coolera-Strandhill will make the last four if they avoid defeat. Calry-St Joseph’s need to claim victory and also hope that Western Gaels don’t lose to Easkey – such a scenario would get Calry-St Joseph’s into the semi-finals. If Coolera-Strandhill, Western Gaels and Calry-St Joseph’s finish level on points, which could have if Western Gaels lose to Easkey and Coolera-Strandhill are beaten by Calry-St Joseph’s, then score difference will decide which two of the three progess.

Western Gaels will make the semi-finals even by losing once Coolera-Strandhill overcome Calry-St

Joseph’s. All three of Sunday’s games have a 1pm start.
