CASTLE DARGAN LADIES

PRESIDENT’S DAY: Club president Pauline Lennon – the club’s first female president – held her big day on the Sunday before last, September 11. She was joined by a large number of members, guests as well as the club’s two captains, Michael Flynn and Carol Murphy Keaveney. The fairways were busy throughout the day, from 7.30am.

When the golf concluded, there was a meal for competitors and guests. Music followed.

The 10-hole competition was won by Kathleen Cunningham, with Mary Hudson in second place.

RESULTS: The results of the 18-hole stroke competition held on Sunday last, sponsored by Golfstyle, Galway, were as follows: 1, Mary Barrins (34) 65 nett; 2, Margaret Geraghty (31) 68 nett; Gross, Anne O’Connor (9) 85 gross; Category One (handicap index up to 22.2), Dorothy McKane (21) 69 nett; Category Two (handicap index 22.2 to 28.1), Martha McNulty (26) 71 nett; Category Three (handicap index 28.2 to 54.0), Lucia Rafter (36) 71 nett.

Hotel open competition held on Thursday last, September 15, were as follows: 1, James Cunningham (17) 46pts; 2, Paul McStay (12) 42pts.

RESULTS: The results of last Saturday’s stableford were as follows: 1, David Lattimore (24) y 43pts; 2, Ray McNamara Snr (27) y 41pts; 3, Gary Laird (10) y 40pts; 4, James Cunningham (14) y 39pts (B9).

RESULTS: The results from the competition that was held on Sunday last, September 18, were as follows: 1, Arthur McMahon (7) y 43pts; 2, Eddie Forde (11) y 42pts (B9); Category One (handicap index up to 9.0), Charles McGoldrick (1.9) w 39pts; Category Two (handicap index 9.1 to 15.0), Jim McLoughlin (11.1) y 42pts; Category Three (handicap index 15.1 to 21.0), Michael Concannon (18.2) y 41pts; Category Four (handicap index 21.1 and above), Tommy Geraghty (40.0) y 41pts. This competition was sponsored by Ballina Beverages.

CASTLE DARGAN

RESULTS: The open competition held on Friday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10, was sponsored by the Riverbank Bar & Restaurant. The results were as follows: 1, Kevin McCarthy 36pts; 2, Aidan McGoldrick 32pts; 3, Alec Morley 31pts.

CLUB COMPETITIONS: Tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday there is an open stableford – the competition sponsors are O’Grady’s shop, Coolaney. Sunday’s ‘King of the Castle’ competition is a stableford. This week marks the end of the club’s 18-hole competitions for the season. The club thanks the various competition sponsors.

WINTER LEAGUE: The club’s popular Winter League begins on Sunday week, October 2.
